Von Johnson joined DIVA Systems Corporation as Vice President of Programming Operations in 1997. DIVA Systems was a technology start-up company based in Menlo Park in California's Silicon Valley. Founded in 1995 by entrepreneur and scientist Paul Cook, DIVA developed and deployed the first end-to-end solution for video-on-demand to the home through digital cable systems.
The Programming Operations Group created standards and methods for content encoding, metadata, quality control and electronic distribution to support a widely deployed video-on-demand architecture. This achievement included the development of Digital Asset Management and Content Licensing and Content Scheduling applications.
